Dark colors are the kind of thing which is always in season, no matter where you go. You just have to understand that dark colors carry far different meanings than light ones do. When you go dark, you are saying some completely different things than you would if you were wearing something lighter. Of course, when you wear a dark outfit, you are also going to have a lot of different standards applied to you and assumptions made about you that you would not have if you had chosen to lighten up your palette a little bit. Some say that the clothes make the person, and dark clothes will definitely make you at least seem as if you were a different kind of person than you would be if you had worn lighter clothes. It is definitely worth experimenting with, if you have been entertaining some thoughts of altering your personal image a bit.
For one thing, dark colors (and black in particular) have two main implications. The darker your outfit is, the more evil you are thought to be. Generally, good people are assumed to be wearing lighter colors. As well, the darker the clothes that you wear are, the more powerful you are thought to be. Wearing dark colors is a good idea if you want to be taken seriously. But of course, another thing that dark colors tend to imply (because they tend to come across as looking faded or dingy) is that you are poorly kept and possibly poor.
Overall, it depends on the types of dark colors that you wear. If you have something which is either brand new or well maintained that is nice and dark, you are going to have a far better time of it than you would if you were going to be walking around wearing an outfit that was dark ten years ago, back when it was not intensely washed out by years of use. Dark colors do tend to lose their potency if you carry yourself as though you were unable to buy any new clothes this past decade.
