Moving Forward Brightly

If you have ever been friends (or even close to friends) with one of the art school types, then you have undoubtedly heard the old advice that concerns any sort of a color choice. Simply put, the lighter something is, the more it stands out to the human eye. Now, granted that this is a really big deal when you are painting something on a canvas, and it also works to a certain extent when you are designing the way that a room is going to look. But whether you realize it or not (and a whole lot of people do not realize this), the difference between light and dark colors (and also the difference between how much they seem to visually come forward or sink backward) also works with the outfits that you wear.

Think about how you usually see people who are very attractive. If they are of the bad boy or bad girl type, they tend to hang back, lean back and (more often than not) wear black, too. In contrast to that, you have the types of people who tend to look attractive in a more “wholesome” way. Think of your traditional cheerleader and football player types. These people tend to wear lighter, and also generally brighter clothes when they go anywhere outside the house. It is just the nature of the beast to dress in lighter clothes if you are the type of person who really wants to be seen.

Of course, you have got to decide for yourself if you are interested in actually being seen in the first place. For some people, being seen is generally the worst case scenario in life, and they might actually rather be dying in the bottom of a well than be seen walking around in brightly colored (or even lightly shaded) outfits. Just like with everything, it all comes down to personality.
